Keppels Brewery is so new that it isn't even open yet. Well, technically anyway. Dan Keppel, occasionally supported by his dear old Dad, is establishing a brand new brewery in yet another historic town in Essex - this time Rayleigh. The plans are afoot and we are super excited that the brewery will, with some luck, be properly up and running by Xmas 2017.

However, this is quite so brand new as you might think. The aficionados amongst you might have already enjoyed some of Dan's beers (produced at the Billericay Brewing Co with the help of Trevor and his team), which have already established something of a cult following. The inaugural beer, Tipsy Crow, a dark strong stout with hints of liquorice, went down a storm and, from nowhere, won the Beer of the Festival at the Epping & Ongar Railway Real Ale Festival in 2016.

Since then a few local souls will may have enjoyed a Golden Crow purchased from Hoppily at some of our local events. We are proud to get this into our subscription club boxes to celebrate the impending opening of the brewery for real!

Cheers Dan!
